Ken Napolitano (135), Scott Sampsell (10) and Mark Griggs (partially hidden) lead the start of the final moto of the Vintage 80’s 201-Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice and Vintage 90’s Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions at the ACR Vintage Vet & Youth Championships at Broome-Tioga.

American Classic Racing (ACR) is a member owned organization that is dedicated to the sport of vintage motocross and off-road racing. ACR conducts AMA sanctioned events in the North Eastern region of the United States. ACR, with the help of its sponsors, hosts one of the best vintage motocross series in the Northeast.

Ken Napolitano (135) and Joe Fontana (1) battle for the lead in the final moto of the Vintage 80’s 201-Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice and Vintage 90’s Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions at the ACR Vintage Vet & Youth Championships at Broome-Tioga on May 30th in Binghamton, New York.

The opening moto of the combined gate of Vintage 80’s 201-Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice and Vintage 90’s Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions was led out of the switch-back first turn by Ken Napolitano, Joe Fontana, Mark Griggs and Scott Sampsell. When the leaders descended the National Hill for the first time, the top five were; Napolitano, Fontana, Griggs, Sampsell and Rick Rosseter. Napolitano’s lead was four seconds at the start of lap two. A half lap later, Napolitano’s advantage had increased to five seconds and the top three were unchanged. Rosseter quickly closed the gap on Sampsell and made the pass for fourth, relegating Sampsell to fifth. Just before the start of lap three, Rosseter and Sampsell passed Griggs taking third and fourth. Griggs was displaced to fifth. Fontana reeled in Napolitano and had reduced his lead to a measly three seconds at the start of the white flag lap but ran out of time. Napolitano got the win with a three second lead. Fontana, Rosseter, Griggs and Sampsell completed the top five overall.

Mark Griggs (726) and William Centenaro (402) battle for fifth in the final moto of the combined gate of the Vintage 80’s 201-Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice and Vintage 90’s Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions at Broome-Tioga on May 30th.

Napolitano, Sampsell, Griggs and Fontana led the start of the final combined gate of Vintage 80’s 201-Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice and Vintage 90’s Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions. Napolitano quickly pulled away and had a significant advantage after a half lap but Fontana was on the move and had already diced his way to second and began reeling Napolitano in. Fontana was only two seconds back at the start of lap two. Rosseter, Sampsell and William Centenaro rounded out the top five. Fontana was less than a bike length behind Napolitano at the start of the last lap but when Napolitano descended the Hill a half lap later, Rosseter had gotten around Fontana for second and their battle had given Napolitano just enough breathing room to get another win. Rosseter, Fontana, Sampsell and Griggs closed out the top five overall.

Wayne Bogert (83) leads the pack out of the 1st turn in the first moto of the combined gate of the Evo Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions at the ACR Vintage Vet & Youth Championships at Broome-Tioga.

Wayne Bogert, Roy Vanderveur Jr., Paul Capasso and Don Borkowski led the start of the first moto of the combined gate of Evo Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice classes. Vanderveur took the point position on the National Hill will Capasso in close pursuit. Bogert, Borkowski and Todd Jones rounded out the top five. Vanderveur held off Capasso until the last lap. Capasso descended the Hill at the point with only a half lap to go. Capasso took the checkers with a seven second lead. Vanderveur, Andy Peebbles, Bogert and Borkowski followed.

Andy Peebbles (26) and Don Borkowski (853) battle for fourth and fifth in the first moto of the
combined gate of the Evo Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions at the
ACR Vintage Vet & Youth Championships at Broome-Tioga on May 30th in Binghamton, New York.

Perry Sconzert, Capasso and Bogert led the start of the final moto of the combined gate of Evo Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions. Capasso took the lead in the second turn and never looked back. When the leaders came off the Hill after a half lap, the top five running order was; Capasso, Vanderveur, Bogert, Sconzert and Dave Vanpelt. Capasso had a two second advantage over Vanderveur at the start of lap two and the top five were unchanged. The top five were all spread out after two and a half laps. Capasso got another win but took the checkered flag only two and a half seconds ahead of Vanderveur. Bogert, Sconzert and John Nardone completed the top five overall.

Perry Sconzert (99) and Paul Capasso (62) lead the start of the final moto of the Evo Open Expert/Intermediate/Novice divisions at the ACR Vintage Vet & Youth Championships at Broome-Tioga on May 30th.
