Sports Center on April 4th in Binghamton, New York.

Area Qualifier at Broome-Tioga
on April 4th in Binghamton, New York.
Mother
Nature dominated the hours leading up to and much of the day of
the season opener at the Broome-Tioga Sports Center on Saturday,
April 4th. The good Mother threw in some variables that would
have a definite affect on the days racing. Heavy rains fell for
most of the day and evening prior to the event and continued
into race day. In addition to the rain, snow showers,
temperatures in the upper 30ís (but felt like the lower teens
with the wind) and a wind advisory for potential gusts up to 40
miles per hour put riders in survival mode. Due to the extreme
conditions, the race program was amended to a one-moto format.
Aaron Stancil (792) and Reed Chapman (behind Stancil) battle for
fourth early in the 250 A moto
at the Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier at Broome-Tioga in
Binghamton, New York on April 4th.
Honda
pilot, Michael McDade, from Raleigh, North Carolina, topped both
the 250 and 450 A classes. In the 250 A moto, McDade gated
outside the top five off the start but had the point position
secured after a quarter of a lap. McDade rode the rest of the
eight lap moto uncontested for the win, taking the checkers
ahead of Josh Emmi and Michael Sattile.
Josh Cascia (25), Eavan Ellefsen (42), Robert Berry (28), Skyler
Windhausen (277) and Jimmy Doolittle (60)
lead the start of the 250 B Stock moto at Broome-Tioga on April
4th in Binghamton, New York.
Michael
Hacia, Emmi, Aaron Stancil, Jesse Deryke and Reed Chapman led
the pack out of the switchback first turn in the 250 A moto.
McDade quickly diced his way to the front and secured the point
in the front rhythm section. Hacia and Emmi were displaced to
second and third. Stancil and Chapman rounded out the top five.
The top three were already spreading out at the start of lap two
and the battle for fourth continued between Stancil and Chapman.
McDade had an eight second lead after two and a half laps. Emmi,
in third, trailed Hacia by seven seconds and Chapman was seven
seconds off Emmiís pace in fourth. McDadeís advantage had
increased to 17 seconds by the start of lap four. The top three
were unchanged but fourth and fifth were now held by Kyle Willis
and Jeffery Mort. Emmi made a mistake at the end of the lap that
allowed Mort to push past taking third. Just before the start of
lap seven, Hacia went down. Emmi inherited second and Michael
Sattile third. Hacia remounted fourth, relegating Willis to
fifth. McDade took the checkered flag for the win with a plus
35-second lead. Emmi, Sattile, Hacia and Willis completed the
top five.

Robert
Berry, another North Carolina resident, topped the podium of the
extremely competitive 250 B Stock division. Berry gated third
off the start and took the lead on lap two. Berry managed to
hold off several riders in route to taking the win. Skyler
Windhausen and Caleb Schachtler completed the rostrum.
Josh Cascia, Eavan Ellefsen, Berry, Windhausen and Jimmy
Doolittle led the start of the 250 B Stock moto. Brandon Smith
held the point when the leaders exited the front rhythm section.
Berry, Andrew Carlson, Larry McVay Jr. and Windhausen rounded
out the top five. Smith went down in the first turn just after
starting lap two and Berry inherited the lead. Carlson and
Windhausen advanced to second and third. McVay and Schachtler
moved up to fourth and fifth. Berry had a four second lead by
the start of lap three that Carlson reduced to only two at the
start of lap four. Berry couldnít shake Carlson until lap six
when he finally got some help from lapped traffic to increase
his lead to five seconds and increased it to six at the
checkers. Windhausen, Schachtler, Carlson and Brandon Smith
closed out the top five.
